Client:
Our client was a leading global financial services company specializing in international money transfers. Our client decided to enhance its traditional “brick–and–mortar” remittance services with a new mobile money transfer component. Historically, its most common business offering had been cash–to–cash money transfers in which consumers physically deposited cash with an agent and, on the receiving end, cash was collected from an agent. The new mobile–based strategy would support the transfer of money from an mWallet associated with a subscriber’s mobile phone service to either a recipient’s mWallet or an agent location for collection of transferred funds.
The Challenge:
With a rapidly growing global acceptance of mobile applications and the continuing paradigm shift from brick-and-mortar establishments to virtual means, mobile partners are focused like never before on developing individual mobile handset applications. Our client needed to construct a platform and integration process that would allow mobile network operators and mWallet providers to subscribe to its mobile money transfer service and in turn offer their customers its mobile remittance services. It was important to our client that partners could be integrated in an invariable, cost-effective manner, minimizing burdensome requirements and supporting partner solutions. Furthermore, a standardized integration method would ensure that regardless of the partner implementation, the end-user’s experience with the mobile money transfer offerings would remain consistent, predictable and repeatable.
The Solution:
The client reached out to DonRiver to develop the process to incorporate and support its new Mobile Network Operator and mWallet providers. This centralization would allow partners to efficiently and effectively integrate to the client’s mobile remittance systems as well as:
- Define required activity scope and partner responsibilities to become a certified mobile remittance partner.
- Specify the technical components in the solution architecture that are required for the implementation of a mobile money transfer and remittance end-to-end system.
- Provide implementation samples as well as business and operational considerations for partners to be aware of when developing integrated offerings.
- Allow partners to estimate, plan and manage each phase of the implementation process, including planning and budgeting, analysis, design, development, testing, deployment and production support.
- Minimize the direct support requirements for the client’s partners and empower them with the information required to build their own value-added offerings.
The two main deliverables that DonRiver produced in developing the partner integration processes are the following:
Partner Integration Process Definition
- DonRiver defined the end-to-end partner integration process while at the same time consolidating the client’s resources to focus on value-added activities for its end users. The partner integration process supplies the associated partners the information required to successfully mesh with the client’s processes and systems, enabling mobile money transfer. This data includes business scenarios, process and system considerations and the steps for successful implementation
User Integration Guide
- DonRiver also created a user interface guide to provide the client’s partners with implementation details concerning user interface guidelines, application functionality, integration events and application security as well as general guidelines that all partner applications should adhere to.
DonRiver brought experienced mobile financial services professionals to the table to assist in establishing an integration framework based on DonRiver’s extensive knowledge of the industry. As a result, our client has experienced improved partner relations and more focus in its operations, allowing for efficient rollout of its mobile money transfer channel and smooth integration of key partners.
